corporate, trophy, or fish...

My burgeoning vintage trophy collection, above

I keep thinking of that hilarious line in Kath and Kim, when Kim is assessing her options as wife. She says something along the lines of "well, you have three choices as a wife - corporate, trophy or fish".

Hope I don't qualify for the third option, and the first option would be a lost cause due to a dire lack of enthusiasm re entertaining prowess.  However, with the addition of a few new trophies to my collection, I reckon I am a shoe-in for the second option.  If that's the sort of trophy wife you're into...

I am quite obsessed with old trophies at the moment.  There is something so poignant about them.  Won with such pride, then discarded along the line, probably by a relative!  I think it is almost my duty to buy then all up and give then a loving home - right?

  5. Thank you Heather. You have inspired me immensely.
I am currently doing a course via correspondence with The Australian College of Professional Styling. And you are living my dream....!!! And the fact that your reside in Melbourne, which is something my husband and I are in the process of trying to do. Makes me very jealous.....
We currently live in Fremantle Western Australia. And as a budding stylist you are very limited in gaining any work experience........
And I am desperately trying to create my portfolio..... and having not much experience under my belt is proving to be a rather small portfolio.
Do you have any tips to share in regards to gaining work experience and my portfolio....?????

  9. I'll have to check out the Design Files now. This post is so sweet. I'll never be able to look at a trophy in an opshop in the same way again. Your collection is lovely and you're right - there's a lot of joyful energy around those pieces. For some reason it has made me mourn losing my Brownie badge collection. I wish I Had those badges still! I've spent most of my life trying to regain all my early collections that my mother culled! xx

  10. Hi Josephine - I have my Brownie badges and certificate (Tintookie, lol) but one of my best friends still has her dress with the badges intact -soo sweet. Did you get the badge where you had to make a bed with hospital corners?
